2021-Fall Dormitory Application & Registration Notice


1. Subject: Graduate & Undergraduate students in 2021

※ This notice is not for undergraduate freshmen who are enrolled from September. These students refer to the dorm notice distributed by the admissions office.

※ Students from Wonju Medical College should ask the Housing Office in Wonju Medical College for detailed info. (033-741-0217)


 2. Application Period: 2021/7/19(Mon) 10:00 ~ 2021/7/26(Mon) 23:59

※ Applications won`t be allowed after deadline. Please be punctual.


3. How to Apply

※ After completing the application, it is necessary to check whether the application was successful in the application info.

Graduate

※ wjdorm.yonsei.ac.kr → Log-in → ‘Online Application’ → Click ‘Apply (Graduate students)’→ Fill out application form

Students who receive ‘Outstanding foreign student scholarships’ also have to apply if they want to check in. Furthermore, if those students have applied for Maeji 3 dorm, they do not have to pay the fee during the payment period. (KSGP students are an exception)

※ All graduate students will automatically be allowed for 24-hour access to dorm.

※ Graduate freshmen can also apply through the website.

Undergraduate

[How to apply]

※ Log-in to portal.yonsei.ac.kr → Academic information system → Academic management system → School life → Wonju dormitory → Application

※ If the number of dormitory applicants is higher than the capacity, it may or may not be assigned to other dormitories according to the selection criteria.

[Selection critereia]

1) The original selection criteria: For students from class of 2019 or higher (ex. 2018, 2017, 2016...)

- Selection will be done as follows;

◦ Group 1: Students who have 0~3 demerit points

(Sum of Merit·Demerit Points > Merit Points > GPA)

◦ Group 2: Students who have 4 or more demerit points

(Sum of Merit·Demerit Points > Merit Points > GPA)

※ If sum of merit and demerit is the same, student who has more merit points will be prioritized.

※ If students have the same result, student who has higher GPA will be prioritized.

2) The order of GPA from the previous semester

◦ Students from class of 2020, 2021

◦ Transferred students from 2020, 2021

◦ All dental hygiene major students except class of 2021

※ There were no regular housing from 2020 Spring semester to 2021 Spring semester. Therefore, we are going to temporarily use the criteria above only for this semester.

New selection criteria to be changed from the Spring semester of 2022

If the number of dormitory applicants is higher than the capacity, it may or may not be assigned to other dormitories according to the selection criteria.

※ If sum of merit and demerit points is higher, the more likely it is to be selected.

※ If sum of merit and demerit is the same, Students who have higer GPA just before the semester are more likely to be selected.


[ About the Selection Criteria... (For undergraduates) ]

1) Merit·Demerit points are based on the recent year when the student lived in dorm.

- Recent Year?

(e.g.1) If a student lived in dorm in 2019(both semesters) and applies for Fall semester in 2021, the merit and demerit points from 2019 will be considered.

(e.g.2) If a student lived in dorm in 2019(only Spring semester) and applies for Fall semester in 2021, the merit and demerit points from Spring semester of 2019 will be considered.

2) GPA is based on the recent semester which the student attended, whether he/she lived in dorm or not.

3) Due to the COVID-19 situation, regular housing was not possible during Spring semester of 2020 ~ Summer semester of 2021. Therefore, merit·demerit points during this period will not be applied as selection criteria.

4) Entrance Restriction

A. Student who will apply for leave of absence for Fall semester of 2021

B. GPA: Less than 1.75 / Merit·Demerit Points: Less than –10 points

C. Students who were expelled from dorm in Spring and Summer semester of 2021

Two Students

※ Room capacity has been adjusted in accordance with the recommendation of the Ministry of Education(Two students) in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As a result, the fee has been raised by 20 percent(excluding Seiyon twin room). This is only a temporary measure. If the COVID-19 situation changes in two weeks before the official date of checking in, there may be adjustments to the room capacity and amount. (If there is a difference, a refund will be made after September.)

※ RC students can be assigned to a different dorm from the one you applied for.

※ If there are more applicants than the available rooms, you may be assigned to Maeji Triple dorm (Total fee: ₩652,960 / Fee per night: ₩5,830) / Two students / Common toilet and shower facilities)

※ The dormitory does not operate a restaurant. Accordingly, the price does not include food expenses. You can eat in the cafeteria or cook food in the lounge.

※ Please inquire at the office to use the room for disabled.


5. Result Notice: Check the website for the result on 2021/7/30(Fri) 17:30

6. Dorm student council fee selection period: 2021/8/3(Tue) 10:00 ~ 2021/8/4(Wed) 23:59

※ If you do not make any choices within the period, you will be considered to pay the fee (₩4,000)

※ Students who do not pay may be excluded from support for various events of the dorm student council.

※ Please see the attached file for how to choose.


7. Registration Period: 2021/8/5(Thur) 10:00 ~ 2021/8/11(Wed) 23:59

※ There is no additional registration period, so be on time.


8. Period of residency: 2021/8/28(Sat) 15:00 ~ 2021/12/18(Sat) 12:00

※ Be punctual when you check in and out.

※ Outsiders, such as parents and friends, are not allowed to enter dorm in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.


□ Additional Info.

1. Application for Roommate

A. Application Period: 2021/8/13(Fri) 10:00 ~ 8/17(Tue) 23:59

1) Undergraduate: Log-in to the Yonsei Portal for application

2) Graduate: Fill out the form when applying

※ If graduate students want to live with undergraduate roommate, send an e-mail with following information; student ID, name, gender, contact info.

※ If graduate students lives with an undergraduate student, Housing Office might not be able to allow 24-hour access card key.

3) You cannot change your roommate.

4) If a student does not apply for roommate, Housing Office will assign the rooms in random.

B. Survey for Sleeping Pattern: 2021/8/13(Fri) 10:00 ~ 8/17(Tue) 23:59

※ Student can participate the survey in our website

※ Housing Office will consider the sleeping pattern the most when assigning rooms


2. Refund policy

※ Request refund

Go to wjdorm.yonsei.ac.kr → Communitiy → Form Archive → Download the ‘퇴사 및 환불신청서 Refund request form’ → Send an email dormi123@yonsei.ac.kr (Refund generally takes about two to three weeks.)

[Dorm fee - (Cancellation charge + Calculated fee)]

※ Cancellation fee = 20% of dorm fee

※ The reference date for a partial refund applies to cleaning the room and the date of check out (returned date of card key)

※ Days will be calculated from 2021/8/28(Sat) even if he/she did not enter the dormitory.

※ Days will be calculated by nights.

If refund was applied after 2021/11/26(Fri)


3. Remarks about checking in

A. Check-in Procedure

ID Check → Body temperature and respiratory symptoms check → Required documents submission → Check in

※ Students must wear a mask when checking in.

※ You will not be able to check in if you have any problems such as fever, respiratory symptoms, travel route etc.

※ Students who physically contacted COVID-19 patients are prohibited to live in dormitory.

B. Required Papers (For foreign students)

※ Students who are currently living in the dorm do not have to submit the required documents.

※ It is possible to check in two weeks after entering Korea.

※ Fill out the attached files and submit them at the front desk when checking in.

1) Passport or copy of E-ticket (Certificate that shows your date of entry)

2) Written Pledge (Fill out the attached file)

3) Initial health status record (Fill out the attached file)

4) Covid test result document (Negative)

5) Tuberculosis test result document

C. Items to prepare

Facial mask, individual sanitary products, beddings, LAN cable (Wireless router), personal thermometer.

※ Allowed: Blow dryer, laptop, air purifier, humidifier, etc.

※ Prohibited: Electric heating (electric pad, electric cushion, coffee machine, coffee pot, curling iron, iron, etc.), flammable goods, electric scooter, gambling objects, pets, etc. [Penalty points will be given when detected]

D. Smoking in the dorm and bringing alcohol into the dorm are prohibited. If you violate this rule, you can be expelled from the dorm.

E. Wearing mask is mandatory in the dorm.

F. If the submitted documents are false, you may be expelled from dorm and be subject to disciplinary action.


4. Changing the Rules of Wonju Housing (for prevention of COVID-19)

5. Notice to overseas travelers while living in the dorm

When leaving Korea, you must inform Housing office and international student manager of your schedule and purpose of your visit in advance. After re-entering Korea, please self-quarantine outside, and be sure to follow the infection control rules. Violation of this may result in deportation and disciplinary action.
