Notice of the Construction (Expansion of the Science Research Center - Biosystems Research Center) 2023.06.21

In order to compensate for the insufficient educational and research space of the College of Life Science and Biotechnology, we have implemented the expansion project for the Science Research Center (Biosystems Research Center). Therefore, we are informing the construction as follows, asking for your cooperation.


1. Overview

A. Cosntruction Site: site between the Science Research Center - IBS Hall - Advanced Science & Technology Center

B. Building Size: 2 basement floors, 6 above ground floors, total area of 6,611.75㎡

C. Main Purpose of Each Floor

1) B2F: machine room, electrical room, septic tank, etc.

2) B1F (Lobby Floor): lobby, lounge, security office

3) 1F: student council room, department rooms

4) 2F: large-size lecture rooms, dean's office, administrative office, professors' rooms, laboratories, etc.

5) 3-6Fs: laboratories, cell culture room, common equipment room, low-temperature room, professors' rooms, seminar room, etc.

6) Other: connectic bridges will be built on the 1st and 3rd floors with the Science Research Center


2. Construction Period: 24 months (July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2025)


3. Construction Companies: Hongsung Construction Co., Ltd., Kyungwon Co., Ltd.,  Seokyong NCS Co., Ltd., Woojung Co., Ltd.

※ Collaborative construction of four companies according to the separate ordering system for each type of construction.


4. Notes

A. As a preliminary construction, the arrangement of the surrounding area and retransplantation of trees will begin from the 4th week of June.

B. The one-way street leading to the perimeter of the Science Research Center will be blocked during the construction. As a result, the road in front of the main gate of the Advanced Science and Technology Center will be blocked for both vehicles and people, and it will be also difficult to use the nearby parking lot.

The traffic around the Science Research Center will be changed as follows.

▶ Vehicles

1) Slope road between the Science Research Center and the Physical Education Center:

  (current) one-way traffic → (change) two-way traffic

2) Road between the Science Hall and the Science Research Center:

  (current) one-way traffic → (change) one-way traffic

※ When using the Samsung Hall: (entrance) northern road behind the Science Hall,

                                                       (exit) southern road in front of the Science Hall

▶ Pedestrians

1) When using the Advanced Science and Technology Center: West Gate ↔ main gate of the building

- When approaching from the Athletic Field, use the basement entrance next to the outdoor basketball court

2) When using the Samsung Hall: same as before

As vehicle lanes and pedestrian paths become narrower than before, please use the designated pedestrian section for your safety.


C. During the construction, many inconveniences are expected, such as noise, vibration, dust, etc. From July, fences and basic piles will be installed for the construction site, causing loud noises. We ask for all your understanding.
