사랑하는 연세 가족 여러분께
봄 학기 개강을 앞두고 연세 가족 여러분의 건강을 기원합니다. 2020학년도 봄 학기는 코로나19 바이러스 확산으로 2주 늦게 시작하게 되었습니다. 학교는 연세 구성원의 안전을 위하여 방역에 힘을 쏟는 한편, 안정적인 학사운영을 위해 진력하고 있습니다.
교수님들께서는 갑작스런 감염병 사태를 맞아 비대면?온라인 강의를 준비하시느라 노고가 많으셨습니다. 고맙습니다. 방역활동과 학사 지원을 위해 땀 흘리는 직원 선생님들의 수고에도 감사를 드립니다.
개학을 기다려온 모든 학생들에게 따뜻한 환영의 마음을 전하고 싶습니다. 특히, 새롭게 대학생활을 시작하는 새내기 독수리들을 연세의 이름으로 환영합니다. 지금은 힘들게 대학생활을 시작하고 있지만, 곧 보람 있고 빛나는 대학생활을 이곳에서 누릴 수 있을 것입니다.
아직은 감염병의 기세가 여전하고, 사상 처음으로 비대면?온라인 강의를 전면 시행할 예정이어서 기술적 측면의 불확실성이 존재합니다. 우리대학은 모든 역량을 기울여 정상적인 학사운영이 될 수 있도록 최선을 다할 것입니다. 예측하기 어려운 불확실성은 모든 연세 구성원의 저력과 협력으로 대처해 나아가야 하겠습니다. 이 위기를 극복한 후 연세는 세계적인 첨단 수준의 온라인 교육 인프라를 구축하여 전화위복의 계기로 삼고자 합니다.
코로나19 바이러스로 고통 받는 모든 세계인들에게 하나님의 은총이 함께하시기를 기원하며, 특별히 연세 가족 여러분의 건승을 기원합니다.

Dear Yonsei family members,
I wish and pray for the health of all our Yonsei family members ahead of the start of the new spring semester. Unfortunately, the start of this spring semester in 2020 has been unaboidably delayed for 2 weeks due to the evolving outbreak of COVID-19. I want to assure you all, though, that the university is making its utmost efforts to support stable academic operations, while focusing firstly on quarantine for the safety of all yonsei community members.
I give you my thanks to our professors who have prepared non-face-to-face, online lectures in this sudden crisis. I also give my appreciation to administrative staff members who are doing their best in initiating quarantine and providing full academic support.
I would like to express my warm personal welcome to all students who have been anxiously waiting for the first day of school. I wish especially to welcome our incoming Yonsei freshmen, who are joining the campus for the first time. Although the start of the semester has been rough, you will soon be able to enjoy a beautiful, educational college life right here in Yonsei.
There is still uncertainty in terms of technological aspects, as non-face-to-face, online lectures will be fully conducted for the first time. Our university will do its very best to maintain a stable academic operation. These current uncertainties that are difficult to predict will be handled by the shared strength and cooperation of all Yonsei community members. After overcoming this situation, Yonsei intends to establish a world-wide, online education infrastructure and hopes to find opportunity amidst this crisis.
May God's grace be with all people around the world who are suffering from COVID-19, and I wish, especially the Yonsei family, the best of all.
