사랑하는 연세인 여러분께,
2020학년도 1학기도 이제 2주를 남겨두고 있습니다. 한 학기 동안 비대면·온라인 강의라는 낯선 환경에서 학업에 열성을 바친 연세인 여러분에게 고마움의 인사를 전합니다.
여름을 앞둔 이 시점에도 코로나19의 지역감염사례가 이어지고 있습니다. 전 세계적으로 700여만 명, 우리나라의 수도 서울에서도 1,000명이 넘는 확진자가 보고되었습니다. 2학기에도 코로나19의 위협이 줄어들지 않을 것이라는 전망이 마음을 무겁게 합니다.
우리대학은 지난 1학기의 경험을 바탕으로 구성원의 안전을 지키며, 위기를 기회로 활용하기 위한 준비를 진행하고 있습니다. 대면강의 시 방역대책, 비대면·온라인 강의의 질 향상을 위한 지원, 온-오프라인을 혼합한 Blended Learning 도입 등 혁신을 계획하고 있습니다.
아울러, 우리대학 학생 여러분의 수업선택권을 강화하고 교육적으로 바람직한 제도의 개선도 지속적으로 숙고하고 있습니다. 재수강 기회를 다음 학기부터 1회 더 늘릴 것이며, 비대면·온라인 강의 시 수강신청 인원을 확대하는 등 장단기 관점에서 제도 개선을 하도록 하겠습니다. 어떤 경우라도 연세대학교의 학생들이 보다 유익하고 유연한 환경에서 배움에 임할 수 있게 최선을 다할 것입니다.
정부의 생활 속 거리두기 지침 지키기에 동참하여 코로나19의 지역사회 확산을 차단하고 나와 이웃의 건강을 함께 지켜 주십시오. 남은 1학기 보람있게 마무리하시고, 활기 넘치는 여름 맞으시길 빕니다.
2학기에 더욱 건강하고 행복한 모습으로 만나뵙기를 기대하겠습니다.

Dear Yonsei Students,
The finale of the 2020 spring semester is only two weeks away. I appreciate for your hard work and enthusiasm of study shown under the online/non-face-to-face lecture environment during the spring semester.
The spread of COVID-19 is not remarkably decreasing even in June and the community infection goes on far from the anticipation that it will dwindle as summer approaches. COVID-19, which has infected more than 7 million people worldwide, has infected more than 1,000 people in Seoul. It is regrettable that there is a prospect that the threat of COVID-19 will not diminish in the coming semester.
Based on the experience of the Spring semester, Yonsei has started preparing to respond to the spread of COVID-19 for Autumn semester. Preparations are being made to provide quality lectures and a safe educational environment, such as prevention measures when converting face-to-face lectures, support to provide better non-face-to-face lectures or blended learning classes. In addition, the change of various systems to strengthen students' class options are continuously being discussed. We are reviewing the improvement of the system for students, such as reducing the limit of the number of students enrolled in case of online lectures, expanding opportunities for re-taking. I will do my best to help Yonsei University students learn in a more informative and flexible environment.
The first semester of 2020 is coming to an end. Even in the midst of the spread of regional infections, I hope you will always keep your safety and pray that you will be able to overcome the hot summer and stay in the second semester.
I am looking forward to seeing you in the autumn semester.
