UNU-KNCU Global Seminar 2010 Session

유네스코한국위원회는 지속가능발전의 논의와 실천에 동아시아 지역 청년,대학생들의 관심과 참여를 증진하기 위해 유엔대학과 함께 2010 유네스코한국위원회-유엔대학 글로벌 세미나(UNU-KNCU Global Seminar 2010 Session)를 개최합니다. 7월 26일부터 31일까지 5박 6일 동안 “Climate Change: Social and Ethical Dimensions”를 주제로 유네스코평화센터(경기도 이천시 소재)에서 열리는 이번 세미나는 한국, 중국, 일본, 몽골 등지의 대학(원)생 100여 명이 국내외 저명한 학자들과 함께 주제와 관련된 문제들을 진지하게 논의하는 자리가 될 것입니다. 관심 있는 청년,대학생 여러분의 많은 참여 바랍니다.

1. General Information
Since 2003, the Korean National Commission for UNESCO (KNCU) has had the pleasure of hosting UNU-KNCU Global Seminar with the United Nations University (UNU), offering students and young professionals a unique opportunity to better understand the global issues that are of great importance to the United Nations, its member states and their citizens. Over the past seven years, a diverse group of participants, as well as distinguished international scholars and practitioners, have engaged in lively dialogue and active exchange of ideas and opinions. By bridging differences in the international community, the seminar also contributed to ensuring a more peaceful and sustainable future.
The UNU-KNCU Global Seminar 2010 will feature keynote lectures providing an overview of the seminar’s theme and special sessions addressing other global issues and roles played by international organizations. In addition to attending lectures, participants will gather in commissions to draft a commission resolution and prepare a model UNESCO conference resolution to be given on the final day of the seminar. Other seminar activities include field trip.

III. Application Information
A. Requirements for Participation
The seminar is open to all undergraduate and graduate students, irrespective of academic major or nationality. Since all lectures and discussions are delivered in English, a working knowledge of English is essential.
B. Application and Submission Deadline
A completed application form and a statement of motivation must be sent to the Korean National Commission for UNESCO via e-mail only to: globalseminar@unesco.or.kr, no later than 3 June 2010 (18:00 Seoul Time).
C. Participation Fee
The participation fee is 240,000 Korean Won. It is to be paid either by bank transfer or upon arrival, which covers accommodations, meals, field trips and printed materials.
※ Transportation costs to/from the Icheon Bus Terminal are not included. Shuttle Bus will run from Icheon Bus Terminal to the seminar site.
D. Certificate
Each participant will receive an official certificate upon successful completion of the seminar.
E. Award Policy
One best team and one best individual will be selected to be invited to a Study-Trip to United Nations University for four days in August 2010..
F. Notification of Selection:
Successful candidates will be notified through individual mails and the official homepage by 9 June (Wednesday).
