본 강의에서 다니엘 마틴 교수는 영국 내 한국영화에 대한 마케팅, 배급, 비평을 개괄적으로 짚어봅니다. 또한 대표적인 한국영화와 감독을 살펴보고 영국영화산업 및 영국인들에게 있어서 한국영화가 가지는 중요성에 대해 이야기할 예정입니다.

The 8th UK Academic Lecture shall be held at the British Council Korea on 20 April by Dr Daniel Martin from Queen’s University, Belfast speaking on “British Audiences and Korean Cinema: The Marketing and Critical Reception of South Korean Films in the UK”. ◆ Summary: Which Korean films are popular in the UK? What do British audiences and critics think about Korean films? How do British companies advertise and promote Korean cinema? Daniel Martin will offer an overview of the marketing, distribution, and critical reception of South Korean cinema in the UK. This lecture will cover the most important Korean films and filmmakers in the UK, and examine the significance of Korean cinema to British film culture and audiences.

Biographical Statement:
Daniel Martin is Lecturer in Film Studies at Queen’s University Belfast. He has a special interest in South East Asian Cinema, and his research concerns the international circulation of South Korean, Japanese and Hong Kong cinema. He has published articles in Cinema Journal and Film International, and he has written reports for the Korean Film Council.
