2023 Announcement of the Holding of the Annual Yon-Ko Games
2023 Announcement of the Holding of the Annual Yon-Ko Games

Hold in Mokdong and Goyang on September 8 and 9

Yonsei University and Korea University will hold Annualr Yon-Ko Games at Mokdong Baseball Stadium, Mokdong Ice Rink, Goyang Gymnasium and Goyang Stadium on September 8 and 9.

The two universities are Korea's most prestigious universities and have been holding regular Yon-Ko Games to reaffirm strong friendship and tradition. The annual Yon-Ko Games, which inherited the tradition of competition between Yeonhui College and Boseong College, is still considered the best festival for students from the two universities.

The history of sports exchanges between the two universities dates back to the 1925 tennis tournament. After the tennis tournament, which was the first game of the two universities, the birthplace of the Yon-Ko Games began with soccer games at Yon-Bo Games in 1927. Since 1965, it has become a regular Yon-Ko Games in five current sports (baseball, basketball, ice hockey, rugby, and soccer). Since 1965 it was established as a regular match, our university has been dominant with 21 wins, 10 draws and 19 losses.

This year, the opening ceremony will start at 10 a.m. on September 8 (Friday) at Mokdong Baseball Stadium, and the baseball game will be held at Mokdong Ice Rink at 2 p.m. The basketball game will then be held at Goyang Gymnasium from 5 p.m.

The next day, September 9 (Sat), at Goyang Stadium, rugby games will be held from 11 a.m. and soccer games will be held from 2 p.m., respectively.

Rugby and soccer held at Goyang Stadium on the second day are allowed without tickets, but opening ceremonies, baseball, ice hockey, and basketball held on the first day are only allowed to enter with tickets or invitations.

You can enjoy Yon-Ko Games in various ways besides the game on-site. A photo wall will be installed in front of the entrance to Mokdong Baseball Stadium on the 8th (Friday), the first day of Yon-Ko Games, and the entrance to Goyang Stadium on the 9th (Saturday), the second day. With the photo wall in the background, you can take commemorative photos with your friends and family, participate in Instagram events, and receive Yonsei cheering towels. (*Cheering towels are presented on a first-come, first-served basis, and the event may be closed early if it is exhausted.)

In addition, on our university's official Instagram, we will hold a special event to share precious memories of Yon-Ko Games by sharing "Enjoying Yon-Ko Games in my own unique way." In the future, vivid content containing the site of Yon-Ko Games, such as sketch photos, articles, and highlight videos for each game, will also be posted, so let's pay attention to our university's official SNS.

On the other hand, even if you are inevitably unable to attend the Yon-Ko Games, you can feel the enthusiasm of the Yon-Ko Games through our university's website and various live broadcast channels.
