Unexpected places to unwind on campus

YONSEI'S SINCHON Campus, one of the largest and arguably most beautiful university campuses in South Korea, also offers several fascinating spots for relaxation. For students who wish to socialize, recharge, or simply spend time in between classes, here are some hidden gems across campus that render a breath of fresh air from studying.

There are many branches of Coup Coffee stationed around campus, but did you know that one of them also resides on the eight floor of the Yonsei-Samsung Library? At this hidden rooftop café, students can enjoy a refreshing view of Sinchon-dong whilst sipping on their drink of choice. You may choose to sit indoors by the window, at the spacious tables, or outside on the roof. Like the other Coup Coffees around, the prices are on the lower side, with americanos offered at ₩2,000 and specialty ades, iced teas, and energy drinks for ₩3,800 or lower. Baked goods such as egg tarts and croffles are also available. The café offers a break with a wonderful view after long hours of studying in the library.

Opening Hours: 9:00-18:30 (during the semester), 9:00-17:00 (during break), closed on weekends

Harmonious sounds of nature at Cheongsongdae Park

Cheongsongdae Park features a mini pine tree forest hidden between the forest of buildings. The trail is great for a leisurely walk after lunch, and even outside visitors come to promenade or exercise by the stream. Those with basic knowledge in han-ja[1] might think that the name “Cheongsong” stands for “blue pines;” however, the cheong here curiously means “to listen,” its full name denoting“listening to the pines.” Besides the park’s serene atmosphere, its etymology further welcomes visitors to slip into the natural scenery. Lucky visitors might run into squirrels and other wildlife to accompany their leisurely stroll.
