사랑하는 연세 가족 여러분께,
우리대학은 오늘 오전 임시교무위원회를 열어, 5월 13일부터 6월 27일까지 중간시험 이후 기간 동안의 수업과 관련하여 비대면온라인강의 원칙을 연장하기로 결의하였습니다. 이는 코로나-19 감염병의 확산위험이 원천적으로 해소되지 않은 단계에서 ‘사회적 거리두기’를 권장하는 정부의 시책에 호응하면서 연세 가족의 건강을 지키기 위함입니다.
연세 캠퍼스에는 봄꽃들이 만발하고, 학생과 교수님들의 서로를 보고싶어 하는 마음도 가득합니다. 온라인 강의의 한계를 넘어서 속히 학생과 교수가 연세교정에서 만나 학업과 연구에 대한 열정을 불태우기를 바라는 저의 소망도 그와 같습니다. 그러나, 동시에 철저한 예방과 방역을 통해 연세 공동체의 건강을 지키고, 지역사회와 국가, 나아가서는 세계시민들의 감염병 퇴치 노력에 동참해야 하는 것이 의무라 하지 않을 수 없습니다.
이제 우리 모두 안타까운 마음을 온라인 수업의 질을 높이고, 새로운 교육의 환경을 개척해 나아가는 노력으로 승화시켜야 하겠습니다. 지금까지 보여주신 협조와 노력에 감사드리며, 나머지 학기 동안에도 학내구성원 상호간 배려와 협조로 연세의 역량을 남김없이 발휘해 주시기를 당부 드립니다.

Dear Yonsei Family,
The university leadership held a temporary Academic Board meeting this morning and we have decided to extend the period of the online/non-face-to-face lectures after the Midterm, from May 13th to June 27th. This decision was made to ensure the safety of our Yonsei Family, as the risk of the spread of the COVID-19 virus has not been fundamentally resolved, while complying with the government's recommendation to maintain social distancing.
Spring flowers are in full bloom on the Yonsei campus, and so are the students’ and professors’ yearning to meet each other in person. It is my most sincere wish that freed from the limitations of online lectures, our students and professors can join on our campus and share their great passion for study and research. However, at the same time, it is imperative to protect the health of the Yonsei community through thorough prevention and quarantine, and to join the efforts of the community, the country, even the world's citizens to fight infectious diseases.
Now we must devote our minds to efforts to improve the quality of online lectures and pioneer this new frontier of education. I deeply appreciate for the cooperation and efforts you have shown so far, and I hope that you will continue to show your commitment to Yonsei University through mutual consideration and cooperation for the rest of the semester.
