—Poll Conducted by The Korea Economic Daily and Campus Job & Joy

According to a poll conducted by The Korea Economic Daily and Campus Job & Joy, Yonsei is the top-ranked university in the country in terms of producing capable employees with a high potential for achievement.  The poll, which was conducted between July 28 and August 20, queried 309 human resource directors and headhunters throughout Korea.

In the opinion of the respondents, Yonsei excels in educating students and preparing them for the job market. In particular, the university’s commitment to hosting large job fairs, arranging special lectures by professionals from a variety of sectors, and creating strong alumni networks were cited as significant factors in Yonsei’s high score. Among private universities countrywide, Yonsei rated highest in terms of producing talented graduates in the arts and humanities, as well as business and economics.

Commitment to Job Support and Special Lectures on Employment

Throughout the year, Yonsei organizes special lectures by employers and academics to assist students in navigating the job market.  The themes of these lectures include: “Hiring Trends and Countermeasures for Domestic Companies,” “The Case of Outstanding Individuals Companies Desire,” and “Analysis of Companies for Selection and Applications.” These lectures are often designed for students in specific fields, such as those in the arts and humanities or engineering and technology, as well as for female students who plan to apply for jobs in private corporations or public enterprises. Yonsei also offers special workshops for students on completing job application forms, public speaking skills, and creating an effective image. These workshops are easy to sign up for and always well attended.

The 2014 Yonsei Job Festival took place between September 1 and 4, welcoming nearly 6,000 students, along with international companies such as GE International and Bloomberg. Korean companies that participated in the fair included Samsung, Hyundai Motor Group, SK, LG, Lotte, and Posco. During the fair, students were able to sit for mock job interviews and take personality and aptitude tests.  There was also a job counseling booth for students to visit, and a number of Yonsei alumni were on hand to provide important information and advice for succeeding in the job market.
