—Ranked 48^th in Social Sciences and Management, 67^th in Arts and Humanities, and 101^st in Engineering and Technology

Yonsei University has been ranked 106^th in the 2014/15 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, rising eight places from last year’s list of the world’s top universities. Yonsei’s overall score of 68.4 was more than three points better than last year.  Since 2007, when it was ranked 236^th in the world, Yonsei has rapidly climbed 130 slots.

QS assesses each university using six indicators: Academic Reputation (40%), Employer Reputation (10%), Faculty to Student Ratio (20%), Citations per Faculty (20%), International Student Ratio (5%), and International Faculty Ratio (5%). Academic Reputation is based on a global survey of academics, while Employer Reputation is determined through a survey of graduate employers.  Faculty to Student ratio measures a university’s commitment to teaching and Citations per Faculty is an indicator of research impact. Finally, the ratios of international students and faculty members gauge the diversity of an institution.

The QS World University Rankings 2014/15 judged MIT to be the world’s top institution of higher learning. Tying for second place were the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London, which were followed by Harvard University (4^th), the University of Oxford and University College London (tied for 5^th), and Stanford University (7^th). Domestically, Seoul National University placed 31^st, followed by KAIST (51^st), POSTECH (86^th), Yonsei, Korea University (116^th), and Sungkyunkwan University (140^th).
