Yonsei Orthodontics Professor Hwang Chung-ju has been recognized by the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics (CDABO) for publishing the “Case Report of the Year.” The award is given out annually by the CDABO for the most outstanding case report published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (AJO-DO), one of the most prestigious journals in the field. Co-authored with Orthodontics postgraduate student Choi Sung-hwan, the case report, “Orthognathic treatment with autotransplantation of a third molar,” was published last November, and it details a successful corrective jaw procedure that included the autotransplantation of a left third molar in a patient with a missing right first molar. Professor Hwang will receive the award later this month in New Orleans at the College of Diplomates Luncheon.
In addition to Professor Hwang’s prestigious award, Yonsei Associate Professor of Orthodontics, Lee Kee-joon, was recently recognized by the CDABO for his case report “Timely relocation of subapically impacted maxillary canines and replacement of an ankylosed mandibular molar are the keys to eruption disturbances in a prepubertal patient.” Also published in AJO-DO, it was nominated as “Case Report of the Month” for February.
