On March 6th, the Institute of East and West Studies at Yonsei University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES). This MOU paves the way for academic exchanges, joint research, and cooperation between the two institutions. Established in 1982, the OIES is a Recognized Independent Center (RIS) of Oxford University, which studies the social science aspects of energy issues. The OIES, whose membership includes academics, industry experts, and policy makers from many different nations, aims, through its cooperative research model, to create a more informed and balanced understanding of the behavior, motivations, and objectives of the economic forces, agents, and policy makers that operate in and influence the performance of international energy markets. Christopher Allsopp, Director of OIES, is an Emeritus Fellow of New College, Oxford and Senior Research Fellow of Economics at Oxford University. He has held high profile positions as a Member of the Monetary Policy Committee of England and as an advisor to the Bank of England.
