The UNDERWOOD GLOBAL COMMUNITY (UGC) was founded at UIC in 2008 with the aim of creating a fun, vibrant, inclusive, and international environment for all its members. Throughout the year, UGC organ¬izes a number of exciting events, such as the One-Day Trip, the Fashion and Talent Shows, and the End-of-Term Dinner, along with our participation in Yonsei’s Daedong Festival. We also provide a strong support network for new interna¬tional students who have just arrived in Korea. To ease the transition process, the UGC team assists international students in obtaining their alien registration card, finding appropriate accommodations, getting a cell phone, and even registering for classes. Because all UIC freshmen spend their first year at the YIC in Songdo, we have made special efforts to coordinate between campuses. As such, we have requested UGC members based in Sinchon to ensure that first-year international students have the opportunity to participate in all of our events. While this is still a work in progress, UGC is proud of its efforts to narrow the distance between the two campuses through our events and activities. UGC continues to recruit new members who can help to foster an even more thriving international community at UIC.
