Yonsei’s 2013 matriculation ceremony was held at the University Amphitheater on February 28th. President Jeong Kap-young welcomed the incoming students, telling them: “It is a great blessing to have all of you new Yonseians on campus. You are at a crucial turning point in your life, and it is here, at Yonsei, that your visions for the future will take shape.” President Jeong also encouraged the new students to reach out to others and to help each other succeed. Also, the 2013 Yonsei Freshmen Orientation took place February 12th-15th in the Main Auditorium. During the orientation, Yonsei’s individual colleges held smaller information sessions for their students, while there were various events organized by the student council and a freshmen-wide session in which the new students learned the Yonsei cheer. On the 13th, President Jeong Kap-young personally greeted the incoming students. Following the President’s welcome address, Kim Do-hyung, Director of the University Museum, gave an overview of Yonsei’s history and explained the meaning of “Yonsei Spirit.” Choi Kang-sik, Dean of University College, spoke about academics and life as a college freshman, while Han Jeong-ho, from the Office of External Affairs, gave a general presentation about Yonsei. The next day, President Jeong himself joined students as they learned the Yonsei cheer. The orientation provided a great opportunity for the incoming freshmen to learn about the school and meet fellow Yonseians.
