Son to Start Yonsei Sport and Leisure Studies Undergraduate Program in 2013 Rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae will start attending Yonsei University from 2013. She received a special admission into the university for her sports abilities. She was qualified, since she has come in 1st place at the Korean National Sports Festivals in all the three times she competed while in high-school. Son came in 5th place at the London Olympics held in August, the greatest accomplishment for a Korean rhythmic gymnast. In November 9th, Son left to Russia for off-season training. Known for her incredible jumping skills and balance, she will concentrate on building strength and perfecting the more difficult moves. Son said that, “I hope to complete a program higher in level of difficulty that can also emphasize my individuality. Among the 4 individual categories, 2 will be choreographed to classical music which I feel most comfortable with.” She also added that, “I made a mistake in the part of the program using the clubs at the Olympics. I am determined to make the clubs my strength by next year.” On her Facebook page, Son wrote, “I am excited about going to Yonsei. I can’t wait to attend classes and start my college life.” Son will complete her training in Russia and return to Korea next month.
