[YONSEI NEWS] Yonsei University Ranks 162nd in Taiwan’s NTU Rankings

Yonsei University ranked 162nd in a university ranking list recently published in Taiwan. Yonsei climbed 43 spots, the largest jump among Korean universities, from last year’s 205th place to rank the second highest after Seoul National University. The HEEAT (Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan) was renamed The National Taiwan University Rankings (NTU Ranking) this year. The NTU Rankings used a tool designed for an objective quantitative and qualitative evaluation of scientific research based on reputation and standard of education excluding administrative index. Research productivity, significance and execution are the most influential indicators in the evaluation process. It also assesses short to long term research results conducted at universities in newly emerging developed countries. Yonsei showed a leap in all evaluation categories except Current articles and Hi-impact Journal articles. The largest improvement was in the H-index achieving a total of 9.65 points. In terms of fields of study, Yonsei climbed 36 spots in Clinical Medicine to 176th and in Engineering to 63rd, 44 spots in Life Sciences to 256th and 8 spots in Natural Sciences to 102nd. Other Korean universities in the list are: Seoul National University at 60th, Sungkyunkwan University at 235th, KAIST at 241st and POSTECH at 327th place.
