[YONSEI NEWS] Yonsei and Applied Materials Inc. Launch Together Collaboration Research Center

Yonsei University and Applied Materials, Inc. announced on April 3rd the opening of a new facility in Yonsei campus focused on the research and development of emerging electronic device technologies. The Applied Materials-Yonsei Emerging Technology (AYET, Director Prof. Hyung Jun Kim at School of Electronic Engineering) Center was formally inaugurated at a ceremony held at Yonsei. At the event, the executive team including Dr. Om Nalamasu, Chief Technology Officer of Applied Materials and Yonsei University officials including Prof. Dong Joon Min, the president of the College of Engineering, heralded the center as a significant opportunity for Yonsei University and Applied Materials to work together in Korea on developing technologies for the future. As part of the collaboration, Applied Materials and Yonsei University will cooperate on mutually-beneficial industrial projects. Workshops and conferences will be held to establish a platform for sharing information, and researchers and graduate students will be exchanged to optimize learning and accelerate project timelines. In addition, this work will provide graduate students with the high quality training and skills needed for potential employment opportunities within the Applied Materials global organization. To further the Center’s research capabilities in the semiconductor arena, Applied Materials donated equipment to the Center for developing atomic layer deposition, a key technology used for scaling semiconductor devices.
