[YONSEI NEWS] School of Business Holds the ‘Entrepreneurship Night’

Yonsei University School of Business held the "Entrepreneurship Night" at the Chang Ki Won International Conference Hall located on the sixth floor of the Yonsei-Samsung Library on November 15th. This was the tenth forum organized as part of the School of Business’ Creative Leadership Forum. At the event, Ko San, astronaut and President of TIDE Institute, and four other students who have taken the journey of starting up their own businesses talked about their entrepreneurial experiences and ideas. Park Sang-yong, Dean of the School of Business, said that "The chances of succeeding as a self-made businessperson in Korea is very low compared to other countries and this is a serious problem that our society faces" and that "Young people in their twenties must think about starting up their businesses in order for the economy and society to develop dynamically." The first part of the Forum opened up with a lecture by Ko San. The second part was led by a panel discussion among Yonsei graduate who started up their own businesses. Panels included Yu Han-ik (Business, Class of 2003), from the social commerce group "Coupang," Lee Jong-dae (Business, Class of 2004), from the social network consulting group "Treum," Choi young (Astronomy, Class of 2005), from the social game creator "Nooslab," and Won Jun-ho (Business, Class of 2006), from the company "Delight" that produces digital hearing-aids. Ko San is the founder of TIDE Institute, a non-profit corporation that helps the starting up of businesses. Ko talked about what relationship there is between being an astronaut and starting up a business, and talked about how his past journey which led him to where he is now. Ko showed his passion in creating more value to society saying that "I wanted to do something that can strengthen science technology in Korea."
