Yonsei was selected on December 29th as a top school by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MEST) which evaluated 347 universities based on its system of "certification for attracting and maintaining study-abroad foreign students." MEST and the Ministry of Justice collaborated since September to evaluate the performances of universities in terms of their capacities to attract and manage foreign students based on eight main criteria. The eight include the ratio of full-time foreign faculty members, number of exchange students, percentage of study-abroad students who drop out midway, financial transparency through foreign student attraction, and percentage of dormitory provision for study-abroad students. Yonsei surveys foreign study-abroad students to find out their satisfaction levels and student demands and manages them under a system that limits the number of courses these students can take based on their Korean proficiency.
