Last December 22nd, a study by Professor Kim Gyeong-sik’s research team was published in Advanced Materials (IF 10.88) which is a world-leading journal in materials science. While Professor Kim was the corresponding author, the first author of the study was Park Hae-seong, a graduate student in the combined master’s and doctoral program, and the co-author was Professor Padya at Boston College. In their study “Broadband optical antireflection enhancement by integrating antireflective nanoislands with silicon nanoconical-frustum arrays”, the authors presented new high-efficient antireflection coating photonic crystal material which can be employed in solar batteries and optic displays. By applying the nanoislands concept to one-fourth wavelength antireflection and merging the structure of the broadband moths’ eye to the antireflection, the study has proposed a new method which overcomes the limitation in antireflection performance. This method was also experimentally realized through nanosphere lithography and semiconductor process technology.
