Yonsei University's Department of Architectural Engineering and the Embassy of Switzerland co-hosted an exhibition introducing the Monte Rosa Hut, Switzerland's environmental-friendly and cutting edge architecture. The exhibition was held from May 16th to May 27th at the first floor of the Engineering Department's Atrium. A 1:50 scale model of the Monte Rosa Hut was displayed and various environmentally-friendly architectural technologies were introduced. The Monte Rosa Hut, which opened in September 2009, is a hotel located on the Northern slope of Zermatt's Monte Rosa Mountain in Southern Swiss. It was created by the ETH Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zürich and the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) as a five-story building at an altitude of 2,833m above sea level using cutting edge technology and an environmentally-friendly design. 90% of its total electric power consumption is supplied from solar energy and water is supplied from the Alps. In addition to the exhibition, there was a special lecture on the 16th by Professor Gerhard Schmitt, the Vice President of the ETH Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zürich. The exhibition's opening ceremony was held at five in the afternoon that day. The event was attended by many including Jürg Burri, the vice-minister of Switzerland's Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, Thomas Kupfer, the Swiss ambassador to Korea, and Gerhard Schmitt, the vice president of ETH Zürich. Schools from Swiss have expressed hope for more exchanges with Yonsei, especially the international campus.
