Yonsei University and Paris-Sud University have embarked on global joint research and education programs, signing the Agreement of Cooperation on May 17th. The universities have agreed to launch the Yonsei/Paris-Sud Project (YPSP), a joint research and education program aimed to focus on ‘the quality of the environment’ (i.e. atmosphere, water, yellow-dust storm, public health) and the development of university education programs. The Project also provides a new course at the Yonsei International Campus this fall semester—The Biological Sciences: It’s a Wonderful Life. As a general education requirement, this team-teaching course is offered by Professor Michael S. DuBow and Professor Kim Eung-bin. From spring 2012, this course will be operated as a preliminary course of the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), in which students search for research topics and undertake literature reviews; and during vacations, the students will carry out studies and experiments through the Freshman In-depth Research Experience (FIRE, tentative name).
