Alumnus Shin Hyun-ho Donates One Hundred Million Won to Yonsei Alumnus of Yonsei University’s Department of Philosophy, Mr. Shin Hyun-ho (year 82) made a donation of one hundred million won for a philosophy-culture program at Yonsei. Named as ‘Shin Hyun-ho’s Philosophical and Cultural Walk’, the program is to provide Yonsei students more opportunities to experience and appreciate various philosophical and cultural activities in liberal arts, fine arts, and philosophy. These include a wide variety of philosophical and cultural events, including exhibitions, performances, movies, sports, seminars, and travelling. Mr. Shin’s program comes in line with his belief in the importance of literary knowledge and appreciation. He hopes young Yonseians realize that it is not only higher GPA and TOEIC scores that is required to be a competent individual, but deeper literary thinking which comes from various forms of experience and exposure. The program is also in accord with Mr. Shin’s practice in sharing. He wishes this program serves as another impetus to the sharing culture on campus and in Korea.
