Cover Article of Physics Reports Professor Yoon Dae-seong and Research Professor Kwon Tae-yoon’s team in Biomedical Engineering, College of Health Sciences on Wonju campus has recently published their study findings in Physics Reports, a prestigious journal in physics. Their report, which was featured as cover article, provides a comprehensive review of nano-resonator devices and methods for the detection of biomolecules relating to human disease states. For many years, the research team has conducted in-depth studies on Micro/Nano Electro-mechanical System (MEMS/NEMS) devices and MEMS/NEMS-based methods for the detection of biomolecules relating to human disease. In Physics Reports, they have introduced diverse methods for the identification of traces of chemicals associated with human disease molecules and the environment, which existing methods had been unable to detect. Their article also presents findings from joint research project on the development and structure of new nano devices with higher detection sensitivity than earlier ones. In particular, their project with Dr. Um Kil-ho (Korea University) and Professor Harold Park (Boston University) on various computer simulation techniques such as the finite element method, multi-scale modeling, and molecular dynamics suggests the possibility of comparison between the results of theory, computer simulation, and experiments.
