Yonsei University's Yoon Dong Ju Foundation held its 11th Yoon Dong Ju Poetry Prize competition and its 3rd Yoon Dong Ju Poetry Recital Contest on June 1st in memory of poet Yoon Dong Ju's love of Korea and literature. ‘Magnolia’ by Hong Seul Ki (Department of Creative Writing, Soongsil University) won the 11th Yoon Dong Ju Poetry Prize among the 1,014 pieces submitted by 191 students. Runner-ups were 'Silk Road' by Hwang Eui Sun (Department of Creative Writing, Myongji University) and 'Goseo' by Lee Hyo Jung (Department of Korean Language and Literature, Korea National Open University). Poet Jeong Hyun Jong (former professor at the Department of Korean Language and Literature, Yonsei University) commented, "There were many good pieces. I could feel the students' sincerity when their training in language and their views on life were well-reflected in the pieces. A work of literature is a challenge against the world and all formal techniques represent the accumulation of consciousness, experience, and discovery." 168 people participated in the Yoon Dong Ju poem recital contest. Kang Hyun Yong, whose clear voice rekindled the purity of Yoon Dong Ju's poem, won the first prize. Lee Bo Mi won the second prize and Yu Ji Yeon, Min Young Chan, and Lee Jae Ryung won the third.
