Festival of Sharing and Giving – Hanoi Smile Project The 2011 Yonsei Campus Festival, whose theme this year was “Ode to Youth”, was held from May 11th to 13th. During the first two days, club performances, Baekyangro markets and bars, and the Yonsei Talent Contest took place along with the opening and closing ceremony; and on the night of the 13th there took place events and performances prepared by Yonsei’s cheerleading squad AKARAKA in the Amphitheater. For the campus festival, the Yonsei Voluntary Center organized the Yonsei Sharing Festival. A number of programs, including the Hanoi Smile Project, were carried out as an effort to include a festival of sharing and giving into the campus festival. The Hanoi Smile Project was founded to help poorly-fed children, children from multicultural families, and Vietnamese orphans by digging wells, sending books, and collecting donations. One of the events of the project included feeling the pain of starvation and sending the amount of that one meal to children in need. In addition, a charity bazaar was opened during the last two days of May, from which the entire donation is to be delivered to children in the Kayang-4 Social Welfare Office, orphans in Vietnam, and to the drilling and well construction business located in the northern area of Vietnam.
