On April 6th, the Office of International Affairs held a consolation meeting for Japanese students at Yonsei, inviting the entire 443 students of undergraduates, graduates, and students in language study programs. The event was organized in order to express condolences to the students whose family members have undergone the recent earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan and provide an occasion for the students to share their stories and promote friendship. Prior to this event, Yonsei President Kim Han-joong granted scholarship certificates to the students. A Japanese student in the MA program of Korean Language & Literature, Kumagai Yuichi had reported his mother to be missing after the tsunami; and freshman in the division of Social Sciences, Harada Yumiko had reported that her home in Japan was damaged from the flooding.
