A voluntary group of Yonsei students completed an overseas volunteering program from February 17th to 23rd in Ba Vi, Vietnam. The Yonsei Voluntary Center coordinated the program in order to fulfill Yonsei’s love through culture exchange and social welfare. Together with students of ULSA( University of Labor and Social Affairs) in Vietnam, Yonsei students visited orphanages and nursing homes. Named as the ‘Hanoi Smile’, the Yonsei voluntary group to Vietnam constituted 14 people—8 undergraduates, 3 graduates, 1 alumnus, and 1 faculty member. The group visited a social care service in the Ba Vi area, meeting 300 people from the orphanages and nursing homes and 70 students of Hanoi NVX elementary students who do not have parents. The voluntary group carried out diverse activities such as Taekwondo, T-shirt designing, and balloon art. The Yonsei Voluntary Center is organizing the overseas voluntary program into an annual program, and is planning to sell sesame oil products made out of sesame seeds from Vietnam and give the profit to Vietnamese multicultural families in Korea.
