2009 Performance Results from the Ministry of Education and Science The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and the National Research Foundation of Korea recently released the ‘2009 University Research Activity Report’. It is the report about the research funds, journal article publications, and patent and technology transfer of 66,155 full-time faculty members in 214 four-year universities in Korea. According to this report, Yonsei University ranked number one in research activity among private universities in Korea. Out of the 4.1175 trillion won research funds, Yonsei University came in second overall with 259.7 billion won after Seoul National University (430 billion won) and first place for private universities. As Korea’s number one private university, Yonsei published a total of 2,131 research articles in 2009, of which 1,134 were in SCI/SCOPUS-listed journals. Yonsei also achieved 320 patent applications, 102 patent registrations, and 43 technology transfers (1,472 million won).
