On July 5, Lee Ki-tae, former Vice Chairman of Samsung Electrongics, was appointed as a full-time professor at Yonsei University. CEO-class executives in major companies have served as chair professor or visiting professor at universities; but Professor Lee Ki-tae’s appointment as a full-time is unprecedented. As Vice Chairman, he adopted high-quality marketing strategies and made the Samsung cellular phone ‘Anycall’ a leading export product. His contributions to the advancement of quality management in domestic industries are highly recognized. He has become a full-time professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Majors in College of Engineering at the International campus. Professor Lee is intent on making the International campus as the pivot of industry-academic cooperation and on developing it into a world-class learning and training institute Born in City of DaeJeon, Professor Lee entered Samsung Electronics in 1973. He served as vice president of the Information Communication Division in 2000, and was president of the division from 2001 to 2007. In 2002, together with Ahn Cheol-su (founder of AhnLab), he was in the list of 25 leaders in the Stars of Asia, a list annually reported by the US weekly business magazine Business Week.
