Avison Biomedical Research Center, Groundbreaking Ceremony The groundbreaking ceremony for the Avison Biomedical Research Center (ABMRC) was held on June 30, in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Dr. Oliver Avison’s birth. With the growing importance of research in the field of biomedical science and the expansion of government support to promote the health care industry, the ABMRC is being constructed in pursuit of world-class competitiveness in biomedical research. On the day of the groundbreaking ceremony, about 100 guests gathered, including President of Yonsei University, Kim Han-joong; Director of of Yonsei Health System, Park Chang-il; and Chairman of the Yonsei University College of Medicine Alumni Association, Chun Cheong-pil. Also, Christopher Paul Avison, Dr. Avison’s great-grandson, and his family attended the event in acceptance of an invitation from the Yonsei Health System.
