With the 100th anniversary of the first modern medical education institution in Korea, the "medical certificate of Dr. Allen of Jejoongwon" received an advance notice to be registered as a Listed Cultural Treasure on 16 August. The medical certificate of "Dr. Allen of Jejoongwon" is the oldest modern medical certificate in Korea issued by the king to Dr. H. N. Allen (1858~1932) who served as a doctor at Jejoongwon, the first modernized national hospital in Korea. Dr. Allen was one of the founders of Yonsei, as well as a missionary and ambassador. He acquired trust of King Gojong after providing medical service to Min Young-ik, a high-ranking courtier, who was stabbed during a riot instigated by the Japanese. The Annual Report of the First Years of Jejoongwon (10 April 1885 ~ 10 April 1886) and his eye examining glasses are also going to be registered as Listed Cultural Treasure.
