[YONSEI NEWS] Nobel Laureate Eric Maskin to Lecture at Yonsei

Opens Courses on Game Theory, Applied Economics and Micro Economics in 2009 Fall Semester Princeton Professor Eric Maskin, 2007 Nobel Laureate for Economics and a renowned scholar in the field of Mechanism Design, teaches at Yonsei as a full-time faculty for a year from this semester. He plans to give lectures to Yonsei's undergraduate and graduate students for a year, working in both USA and Korea. In this semester, he teaches "Game Theory and Its Applications" to undergraduates and "Microeconomics 2" to graduate students. There is also a special lecture for general students and press conference scheduled on 13 October, Professor Maskin received the Nobel in 2007 with Professor Leonid Hurwicz and Roger B. Myerson for developing the Mechanism Design theory. Who is Eric Maskin ? Professor Eric Maskin was born in New York City in 1950. He graduated from Harvard University in 1972 with B.A. in Mathematics, and received Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics in 1976 from the same university. He taught at MIT from 1977-1984 and from 1985-2000 at Harvard University. In 2000, he moved to the *Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. He is also an active member of American Economics Association and Econometric Society. *The Institute for Advanced Study is known for Dr. Einstein's participation and produced 12 Nobel Laureates. Professor Maskin is the only economist among the selected researchers from around the globe. His current residency at the institute is a house used by Dr. Einstein.
