2008 Eminent Professor Award Ceremony Some 12 professors were selected as eminent professors for their excellence in improving the university’s reputation through social service and excellent lectures. The 2008 Eminent Professor Award Ceremony for celebrating their distinguished services was held on 25 February in Underwood Hall conference room. The education category of Eminent Professor Award is for the best lecturer in Yonsei. The award was established to motivate professors by finding exemplary lectures and awarding excellent teachers, thus recognizing the importance of teaching. Professor Sul Hae-sim, Yoo Byung-sam, and Chun Yong-gwan were awarded consecutively for 2 years. The "distinguished services" category of the award was added to acknowledge those with eminent records in professional activity inside and outside of the university. Professor Lee Myung-ho was awarded for missionary service, Professor Lee Kyung-suk for her regular musical performance in the concert for patients, Professor Park Byung-yoon for founding the Medical Volunteers for Uzbekistan, Professor Kim Yee-sook for her activity in Global Korean Nursing Foundation, and Professor Yoo Pyeong-jun for his contribution in establishing the Yonsei-Canaan Global Leadership program.
