Over 1.1 Billion Won Collected in First Month Yonseians have shown overwhelming support for the Economic Crisis Scholarship Campaign, which aims to help students continue their education in the face of economic difficulty. The campaign first began in December of last year and collected over 1.1 billion won (as of January 23) in scholarships. On December 30, CHA Medical Group Representative Cha Kwang-Yul got the campaign off to a wonderful start with a donation of 100 million won. On January 15, Mirae Asset Financial Group Chairman Park Hyeon-Joo donated 615 million won, providing scholarships for 80 students this academic year. On January 20, at the “Yonsei Alumni New Year Celebration,” Alumni Association President Park Sam-Koo (Chairman of Kumho Asiana Group) led the donations with 100 million won and 80 alumni members made contributions. The initial campaign goal is to collect 10,000 pledges, but if the campaign proves to be successful, scholarships will be continuously collected for students in economic need.
