Expected to Open in March 2010 in the Songdo Area of the Inchon Free Economic Zone The development plans for Yonsei University’s Songdo Global Academic Complex have finally been approved by the government, and the University can finally proceed with the development of the Complex. The area approved for development is a total of 1,420,000 m2 in the 5/7 district of the Songdo Area. Construction of he Songdo Complex will be undertaken by the Songdo Global Academic Complex Development Inc. (soon to be established; tentative name). The approval of the development plans sets into motion the next step in the Songdo Project. Construction plans will be finalized within the year and construction will begin in 2008, to be completed in March 2010. The Songdo Global Academic Complex will present a new form of university education and become the center of education and research in East Asia, while also helping the city of Incheon to become the nexus of East Asia equaling and perhaps overtaking Shanghai.
