Synthesizing Compound that Suppresses Growth of Cancers

 

 

 

A research team that includes Professors Kang Yell Choi, Gyoonhee Han, and Weontae Lee from Yonsei’s Department of Biotechnology has synthesized a small molecular compound, KYA1797K, which effectively suppresses the growth of certain cancers. The research, according to the authors, suggests apotential therapeutic strategy for the treatment of colorectal and other types of cancer.

 

Their findings were published June 14 in the online edition of Nature Chemical Biology, one of Nature’s sister journals. The title of the article is “Small-molecule binding of the axin RGS domain promotes β-catenin and Ras degradation.”
