Building Homes, Changing Lives

Yonsei Habitat Seium

Yonsei Habitat Seium consists of Yonsei students who lend a helping hand by building and repairing homes for the underprivileged. Since its founding in 2006, Yonsei Habitat Seium has worked with Habitat clubs from other Korean universities to give deserving families a comfortable living environment. With the motto “Building Homes, Changing Lives,” Seium volunteers work together with the families, giving them a measure of stability, self-reliance, and independence.

■ Main Activities

-"Build" (Habitat for Humanity)
Yonsei Habitat Seium visits the Gunsan and Chuncheon branches of the Korean Habitat Society every semester to volunteer. They help build homes by doing simple construction work, such as fixing ceilings with gypsum boards and painting the walls.

-Repairing Habitat for Humanity
The club also helps repair the homes of elderly residents and families with handicapped members on the outskirts of Seoul. Volunteers do this work once or twice a semester.

-CCYP (Campus Chapter Youth Program)
Yonsei Habitat Seium also collaborates with Habitat clubs from other universities to repair homes, make furniture, and do exterior wall-painting.

Besides these programs, Yonsei Habitat Seium takes part in mentoring and fundraising activities.
