Yonsei, Durham University Agree on Student Exchanges

-Yonsei Now Has Exchanges with 11 U.K. Universities

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen its global network, Yonsei signed a student exchange agreement with England’s Durham University on March 9. Prior to 2012, the only U.K. institution to have an exchange agreement with Yonsei was Sheffield University; with the addition of Durham University, Yonsei now has agreements with eleven such universities. As a result of these exchange programs, the number of Yonsei students studying on exchange in the U.K. has nearly tripled.

In the spring of 2015, Yonsei began sending exchange students to King’s College London; in the fall of that year, the first Yonsei students went to Edinburgh University and SOAS, University of London. This semester, Bath University welcomed the first Yonsei exchange students. In the fall, exchange students will begin enrolling at Bristol University and Exeter University, while the program with Durham University will officially commence in the spring of 2017.

Currently, Yonsei is pursuing its “70:70:50:20” campaign, whereby it plans to sign exchange agreements with seventy percent of the world’s top fifty universities. This includes efforts to make agreements with fifty percent of the U.S.’s top fifty universities and twenty percent of the nation’s top liberal arts colleges. Going forward, the Office of International Affairs hopes to finalize exchange agreements with the University of St Andrews and Birmingham University.
