2015 Global Human Resources Forum Brings

International Dignitaries to Yonsei Campus

On November 3, ten international dignitaries visited Yonsei’s Sinchon Campus to take part in the 2015 Global HR Forum. Among the distinguished guests were President and Provost of University College London (UCL) Michael Arthur and Milton Chen, senior fellow of the George Lucas Educational Foundation. The Global HR Forum’s purpose is to find creative solutions for the many important challenges facing the world’s public and private sectors in terms of developing human resources in the twenty-first century.

During the visit, the group was given a tour of the Sinchon Campus by Yonsei President Jeong Kap-young, who proudly showed them the newly-renovated Baekyang-ro while answering their questions about Korea’s educational system. Throughout the forum, the participants expressed their interest in Yonsei’s educational mission and philosophy; in particular, they wished to learn more about the partnerships between Yonsei and Korean corporations. President Jeong explained that “most of the research conducted at Yonsei is sponsored by industry, or else it is executed as part of a joint-venture partnership. Yonsei continues to develop corporate leaders through these types of collaborations.” President Jeong also emphasized Yonsei’s strategy for becoming a truly global university: “In order to recruit high-quality international students to Yonsei, we have been researching the educational systems, curricula, and college application processes of other nations for the past decade.”

UCL President Arthur praised what we saw of Yonsei, telling President Jeong: “We look forward to having more exchanges with Yonsei University and learning about strategies to evaluate international competitiveness and successfully collaborate with corporations.”
