Yonsei President Meets with Head of Coursera, the Massive Open Online Course Platform

-Two Leaders Discuss Future Vision and Strategies for Collaboration

On July 17, Yonsei President Jeong Kap-young met with Daphne Koller, president of Coursera, one of the world’s largest providers of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Following an agreement made in September 2014, Yonsei has offered two MOOCs through the Coursera platform. At their meeting, President Jeong and Ms. Koller discussed their visions for the future of the partnership, including additional MOOCs to be offered by Yonsei and strategies for generating revenue from the courses.

Currently, Coursera offers nearly 1,100 online courses from 123 different institutions, including Stanford, Princeton, Yale, Northwestern, and Caltech. In Korea, Yonsei and KAIST are the only participating member institutions. The two MOOCs that Yonsei has offered through Coursera are “International Marketing in Asia,” taught by Professor Chang Dae-ryun, and “Emerging Technologies Specialization,” directed by Professor Chung Jong-moon.
