—Corporate MBA Program Ranked 56th in World by U.K.’s Financial Times

Yonsei’s part-time Corporate MBA (YCMBA) program has been ranked 56th in the world by the Financial Times (FT)in its 2014 Executive MBA Ranking. This is the fifth consecutive year that YCMBA has appeared in the FT’s ranking of the world’s top 100 executive MBA programs. The YCMBA aims to educate and train mid-level managers and junior executives by providing them with the opportunity to learn cutting-edge management theories and industry practices.

The data for the FT’s rankings was collected through two online surveys, one completed by the participating schools and the other by alumni who graduated from those programs in 2011. The alumni responses, which are the single most important factor, account for 55% of the ranking’s weight.  The five criteria included in the alumni survey are “salary today” (20%), “salary increase” (20%), “career progress” (5%), “work experience” (5%), and “aims achieved” (5%). Because such weight is placed on current salary, the inclusion of YCMBA in the rankings is seen to be particularly significant, as Yonsei’s program is designed for mid-level managers and junior executives, who inevitably have lower salaries than senior executives.

Yonsei Global MBA Ranked 99th in the World by The Economist

At the same time, the Yonsei Global MBA (YGMBA) program was ranked 99th in The Economist’s 2014 list of the world’s top 100 full-time MBA programs. YGMBA is the only such program in Korea to appear on the list, and this is the fourth consecutive year that the program has been included in The Economist’s rankings.

In its detailed evaluations, The Economist rated YGMBA 5th in “Breadth of alumni network,” 28th in “Potential to network,” and 48th in “Internationalism of alumni,” indicating the strength of the YGMBA’s alumni network, both domestically and overseas. According to Dean Park Young-ryeol of the Yonsei School of Business: “Yonsei MBA continues to make history in Korean business administration. We are confident that by 2020 our MBA will be one of the top three programs in Asia and one of the top thirty worldwide.”
