An academic exchange agreement upon the establishment and operation of ‘Gongja Institute’ was concluded between Yonsei University and Sichuan Normal University. On July 3rd, the agreement ceremony was attended by Yonsei President Jeong Kap-young; Director of the Institute of Language Research and Education, Rhee Seok-Chae; Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Hong Jong-hwa; Head of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Kim Hyun-cheol; President of Sichuan Normal University, Jo Je-ming; and Director of the Literature Center, Yi Song.Founded in 1946, Sichuan Normal University is the largest major university in Sichuan Province. Sichuan Normal University, composed of 27 colleges and 72 undergraduate majors, was the first in the province to establish a college of education. Also, Gongja Institute is a Chinese educational institute aimed to expand both the exchanges with global universities and the education and transmission of Chinese culture and the Chinese language. Based on the Institute, Yonsei University and Sichuan Normal University have agreed to unfold academic and cultural exchange activities, such as student exchanges and faculty visits, as well as to strengthen the agreements of Chinese and Korean language learning and teaching programs.
