The United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD), an educational research institution of the United Nations that is located in Yonsei International Campus, was launched with the opening ceremony on June 8th. The ceremony was attended by Vice Minister of Environment Yoon Jong-su, Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs Cho Myeong-wu, Provost for International Campus Seo Seung-whan, Deputy General Manager of Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority Bang Jong-seol, and Director of UNOSD Center Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry. As an educational research center in the field of sustainable development for not only Asian countries but developing countries worldwide, UNOSD has a key part in the proliferation of knowledge regarding environment and sustainable growth. According to an official of Yonsei, UNOSD will construct an educational research cluster along with the Low-Energy Eco-Friendly Experiment building and the POSCO Green Energy building. Also, in cooperation with UN, Ministry of Environment, Incheon city, and Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, UNOSD will make contributions to the growth of a base organization in sustainable development.
