The 2011 matriculation ceremony was held on Feb 17th at the Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium, opened with an AKARAKA burst from the audience. In his speech, President Kim Han-joong said, “Yonseians are the future leaders of soft power. Yonsei University creates opportunities of soft power.” He described soft power, taking Apple’s iPhone as an example—“It is not the technical competitiveness of hardware products alone that produces best quality. It is the software and contents supplied in App Stores that create and enhance quality and satisfaction. The soft power of cooperation businesses is what reinforces the value of iPhone.” The ceremony was followed by diverse events in celebration of the incoming freshman class, including splendid performances by singer group Afterschool, Bae Da-hae from KBS2TV program ‘Qualifications of a Man’, and AKARAKA cheering songs and moves.
