President of Yonsei University Kim Han-joong was conferred with an honorary degree in Medical and Health Science from Korea University. Korea University announced that the honorary degree was awarded to Yonsei President Kim Han-joong in recognition of his great achievements in both the academic field of Medical and Health Science and the establishment of government policies. The ceremony was held in the Korea University Centennial Memorial Samsung Hall with 200 invited guests. President of Korea University Lee Ki-su also said, “In the process towards Korea’s enhancement in education, Yonsei University and Korea University must continue to work closely together. As contemporary intellectuals, both universities should coordinate and cooperate in attaining mutual goals.” In his reply speech, Yonsei President Kim Han-joong said, “Korea University and Yonsei University have a long history of producing exceptional leaders and contributors in Korea. Now we need to foster leaders that stand among those in the global community.” As Professor of the College of Medicine, Yonsei President Kim Han-joong has authored many publications, including 80 journal articles and 20 reports. His articles have been recognized with outstanding research awards as well. He has actively taken part in the Korean Society of Preventive Medicine, the Korean Society of Qualitative Assurance (QA) in Health Care, and the Korean Social Security Association, and served in a number of governmental committees, playing important roles in Korea’s development in medicine and health care.
