Kyung-Ahm Education and Culture Foundation announced on September 21 that Professor Kim Young-joon from the Department of Biochemistry is to receive ‘the Fifth Kyung-Ahm Academic Award’ in the field of life science. The award ceremony will be held at the Nurimaru APEC House in Haeundae, Busan on 6 November. The awardees will receive one hundred million Korean Won as a reward. Established by the life-long savings of one hundred billion Won of President Song Gum-joh of TaeyangSa (a local company in Busan), Kyung-Ahm Education and Culture Foundation has been conferring the award since 2005 to scholars and artists with outstanding achievements. Professor Kim Young-joon was awarded the fifth Life Science Award from the Korea Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology on October 2006, and appointed as Underwood Distinguished Professor in November last year. He also undertook various research projects supported by the Creative Research Initiative Program.
