Prime Minister Han Seung-soo and Minister of Knowledge Economy Lee Yoon-ho, Political Science & International Studies Eleven Yonsei Graduates in Cheong Wa Dae and Cabinet Yonsei Graduates have been placed in various major positions within the Cheong Wa Dae (Korean ‘White House’) organization and Cabinet of President Lee Myung-bak. A total of 11 officials, including Prime Minister Han Seung-soo and Minister of Knowledge Economy Lee Yoon-ho are Yonsei Graduates. Prime Minister Han Seung-soo graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the Yonsei Department of Political Science & International Studies and holds a doctorate degree in economics from the University of York. This appointment crowns his illustrious public career. He has held the offices of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2001, Chairman of the 2014 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games Bid Committee in 2005, and Special Envoy on Climate Change for the United Nations in 2007. Minister of Knowledge Economy Lee Yoon-ho also graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the Yonsei Department of Political Science & International Studies and went on to earn a doctorate degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 2007 he served as the Vice-Chairman of the Federation of Korean Industries. Other Yonsei graduates include Minister of National Defense Lee Sang-hee (Graduate School of Public Administration), Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yu In-chon (Graduate School of Journalism and Mass Communication), Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Kim Yang (Political Science & International Studies), Vice-Minister of Environment Lee Byung-Wook (Business), 2nd Vice-Minister of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs Lee Jae-gyun (Public Administration), Commissioner of Korea Customs Service Hur Yong-Suk (Business), Cheong Wa Dae Chunchugwan Press Hall Manager Bae Yong-soo (Law), Cheong Wa Dae Secretary to the Minister of Unification Um Jong-Shik (Public Administration), and Cheong Wa Dae Secretary to the Minister of Labor Lee Young-ho (Economics).
