“Venus of Urbino” by Professor Yoon Hye-joon Professor Yoon Hye-Joon (Department of English Literature and UIC) published his new novel Venus of Urbino. The novel is the first Korean novel written in an epistolary style. It is about a revelation of mingled relationships between the friends whose e-mail exchange has been tracked down and “published” without their knowing. Borrowing the form of e-mail, which is now used for everyday communication, the novel presents people of the present day, their problems, frustrations, and desires. The novel is also a “study” of Titian (by one of the main characters) which culminates in the film script towards the end about the drama behind the celebrated painting by Titian adopted as the novel’s title. The novel is professor Yoon’s second novel written in Korean. Professor Yoon wrote and translated many books on prose, poetry, and criticism in both Korean and English. The new novel is published by Nanam and is now available in all major bookstores.
